The most amazing 2 day, 1 night slow boat cruise down the Mekong via Pakbeng

Thanks to Minh Vu, Travel Consultant with Indochina Voyages we were able to experience an amazing 2 day – 1 night slow boat cruise down the Mekong from Huay Xia to Luang Prabang Laos at the end of September 2022. When I first started looking into doing this cruise I was not able to find an operator due COVID-19 restrictions and eventually found Indochina Voyages – Mekong Cruise Division. Minh Vu contacted me straight away. We were originally booked to do the Le Grand Boat cruise but due to some other passengers cancelling this particular cruise would not operate with just 2 passenger, which is understandable. However, Minh Vu worked tirelessly to come up with an alternative so we could still enjoy this amazing cruise. He organised a private slow boat tour. We still did all the special stops along the way like visiting small villages, caves etc. We had a smaller slow boat, but all to our selves. The tour guide, Mr. Sonexay was fantastic, his English was very good and he shared with us his amazing knowledge of Laos and Laos history. The captain was very skilled and the lady on board was an amazing cook. We got to enjoy wonderful Lao dishes she single handedly prepared on board with fresh ingredients straight from the markets. Our overnight stay at Le Grand Pakbeng Hotel & Resort was an other “out of this world” experience. They kindly upgraded us, without us asking, and we had this amazing room overlooking the Mekong. The dinner at the Hotel was again delicious and they made us feel like the most important people in the world. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang our guide Mr. Sonexay accompanied us to our hotel and made sure we were booked in and all was good. What an amazing experience. Both my husband and I would like to thank Minh Vu and Indochina Voyages for making this a dream come true and for providing us with this wonderful experience.
