This morning, you’ll take a walk to the Hoi An Ancient Town and spend a half day participating in a hands-on cooking class to learn how to prepare authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The day begins with a visit to Hoi An’s vibrant market, where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with local sellers and learn about the ingredients used in the upcoming cooking lesson.
After the market visit, you’ll board a boat for a leisurely 25-minute cruise along the Hoi An River, offering a chance to observe the local river life. Upon arrival at the cooking school, you’ll explore the on-site herb garden before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson itself will last around 2 hours, with the chefs first demonstrating each dish before you prepare the same dishes yourself. The class also includes a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving, which is used for plate decoration.
After the cooking class, you’ll sit down and enjoy the meals you’ve prepared. Following this, you’ll explore the Ancient Town of Hoi An, which has a distinct Chinese atmosphere with low, tile-roofed houses and narrow streets. The original structure of some of these streets has remained almost fully intact, with the houses made of rare wood, decorated with colorful lacquered details, and panels engraved with Chinese characters. You’ll visit notable sites such as the Kwan Temple, Phuc Kien Chinese Assembly Hall, Tan Ky Old House, the Japanese Covered Bridge, and the Historic & Cultural Museum.
At the end of the day, you can either return to your resort or spend the evening exploring the town on your own.
