Phan Xi Pang, Fansipan or Phan Si Phang is the highest mountain in Vietnam, which is also the highest in the three Indochinese countries. Located at the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, it is known as the “Roof of Indochina” with the height of 3143m.
Fansipan is about 9 km far from Sapa town to the southwest, adjacent to the two provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau of Vietnam northwestern region. In dialects, a mountain is so-called “Hua Xi Pan” and means protruding huge rocks. Vietnam travel packages
Fansipan Peak is now a familiar name to many climbers. Conquering Fansipan peak can be implemented through Sapa tours provided by a reliable and professional tourism company or by the climbers themselves with the support of the natives.
The climbing route may start from Hanoi to Lao Cai by train over distances of 333 km and from Lao Cai to Sapa by car over 38 km, then from Sapa to Tram Ton Pass or Cat Cat village by car or motorbike. It is here where there are a large number of ethnic people such as Mong, Dao serving the climbers. The most appropriate climbing time is from September to March. However, the road to Fansipan peak is the most beautiful at the end of February, when the flowers start blooming all over the mountain. If you follow the Sapa tour, you will be picked up from Sapa tour to Tram Ton by car. At Tram Ton, you start climbing, go through forests and then take a rest at a place of 1900m in height next to a stream. You will camp, cook and stay overnight at here. On the second day, from there, you will continue the job, climb up to the Fansipan peak and have lunch there. This is the toughest challenging of the whole journey but the most exciting and remains memorable experiences. After a hard climbing, you return to camp where you will stay over the second night. The last day is quite comfortable. You will come back in a different way and at Foothill is the car available to pick you up.
