Discover the beauty of Cardamom Mountains, Cambodia

Cardamom Mountains is a mountain range in the south west of Cambodia. The Cardamom Mountains rain forests are considered by some to be one of the most species-rich and intact natural habitats in the region, but they are also one of the least explored. Tours Indochina

The jar burials are a unique feature of the mountain, and are a previously unrecorded burial practice in Khmer cultural history. Covering 6% of Cambodia, the Cardamom Mountains are home to most of the country’s large mammal species and half of its birds, reptiles and amphibians, including globally endangered and threatened species like Asian elephants, Indochinese tigers, Malayan Sun Bears, Pileated Gibbons, and Siamese crocodiles as well as the Irrawaddy and humpback dolphins in coastal areas.

The southern Cardamom Mountains were until very recently Cambodia’s Wild West, the centre of the country’s thriving wildlife trade and the hiding place of a few diehard Khmer Rouge communities, who are reported to have lived there until as late as 2002. Head back to Chi Phat at your own pace taking in to jungle in its pristine beauty. Cambodia travel tours
