Koh Phayam boasts long uncrowded beaches, plenty of walking trails, some jungle, lots of birdlife, roads without cars and one small village. It is still pretty unspoiled compared to many Thai islands but the number of tourists has increased significantly over the past few years.
Tourists congregate on the island’s pretty beaches, but locals support themselves prawn fishing, cashew-nut farming or working on the rubber plantations. Interesting fauna in the area includes wild pigs, hornbills, monkeys and snakes. Thailand travel packages
Central of Koh Phayam is forest full of wild birds, monkeys, wild boars, etc. The natural island is covered with jungle vegetation, there are no cars and the narrow roads are serviced by motorcycle taxis only. Electricity is delivered by solar energy as well as generators. The local economy is based on cashew nut farming, rubber plantations, fishing and tourism. There is one ‘village’ on the island, where you will find the main pier, a couple of simple eateries, some small grocery stalls and a bar. From the pier area, motorcycle taxis scoot you to the bungalow operations around the island, almost all of which are located on one of the island’s two picturesque bays and are pretty basic.
Typical accommodation remains simple beach bungalows with a fan, mosquito net, cold water shower and a balcony to hang your hammock on. On Phayam the main activities are to relax in a hammoc and do absolutely nothing, watch the spectacular sunset, or go snorkling and scuba diving at Surin, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai or Similan Islands. The local people living on the island are very friendly and make their living out of farming and fishing.
The island is quiet with a relaxed atmosphere and a perfect place for your vacation in Thailand. Koh Phayam is widely thought to be one of the most beautiful and undiscovered Thailand’s islands.
